A Netflix companion app

Netflix is just one of many streaming services used by consumers today. In order to make it stand out from its competitors, mainly Hulu, we created a component app for users/watchers of Netflix to be able to view, write, and share their own reviews of movies they have watched.

From our primary research, mostly in-person interviews, we saw that many users do not always trust the recommendations provided by the Netflix algorithms. People would much rather listen to feedback from friends and family on what to watch. RCMND allows friends to connect with each other, see what they think about certain movies or shows, and interact with Netflix as a brand in a different way than is currently possible. With one other team member, I helped research, conceptualize, and design the app, as well as came up with the name RCMND.

Initial Designs

In our initial designs, we knew we wanted to stick with the red/white/black color theme since this would be a companion app for Netflix. We also wanted it to be pretty simple.

Final Design

After receiving feedback from our peers, we iterated to come up with better screens and changed how some of the features of the app worked. We then used Marvel to mock up the app to do user testing. The response from users was pretty positive.
